Purpose Statement
The basic purpose of this authority is to reestablish and maintain the vitality of the business in the Village of Mendon.
Ordinance 139, section 2. Determination of Necessity. The Village Council hereby determines that it is necessary for the best interests of the public to approve the Tax Increment Financing
and Development Plan (the “Plan”) for the Downtown Development Authority of the Village of Mendon which shall operate to halt property value deterioration, eliminate the cause of that deterioration, increase property tax valuation where possible in the downtown District and promote economic growth, pursuant to act 197 of the Public Acts of Michigan, 1975, as amended.

The mission of the DDA is to foster a vibrant and sustainable downtown area. We are committed to revitalizing our downtown area, promoting economic growth and enhancing public spaces.

Our vision is that Mendon’s downtown becomes a thriving dynamic community hub that accentuates its location alongside the St. Joseph River. We envision a downtown where businesses flourish, residents and visitors enjoy a high quality of life, and public spaces are accessible and welcoming to all.
