The Mendon Village Council met on Thursday, March 19th, 2026, in the Municipal Center. President Olson called the meeting to order at 5:00 P.M. Answering roll call: Saunders, Leo, Batten, Watson, and Coburn.

Motion by Coburn and supported by Watson to approve the agenda

  1. 5:05 PM – A – Budget Hearing – FY27 (April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027)
    1. Proposed Millage Rate

 

Olson advised taking the maximum state-allowed millage rate. Olson advised at the time that the state hadn’t set the rate but was taking the current rate of 8.41%. Or the maximum amount the state allows.

  1. Proposed Budget

 

Olson proposed the resolved budget for 2026/2027. Olson went over the funds account and some projected profits. Some expenses were the general fund being about $247,000, major roads being $31,700, local roads being $9,500, vehicle repair being -$78,500, sewer being -$279,850, and water being at $5,300. Olson also went over a breakdown of several accounts and where the expenses will be recorded.

 

Olson proposed projects in major streets for a year at about $27,000, and local streets have $15,000 in projects. The sewer will need to have a lift station pump repaired, IAO $30,000. Water has no scheduled programs.

 

DDA is expecting to have expenses and revenues of $88,000.

 

Olson advised the village to have cash on hand to cover the deficit of the budget.

 

Motion by Saunders and supported by Coburn to adopt the budget with Resolution 2026-03
