ORDINANCE #171
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE VILLAGE CODE TO AUTHORIZE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF WATER AND SEWER RATES BY RESOLUTION AND REQUIRING PRIOR NOTICE FOR ADJUSTMENTS.
THE VILLAGE OF MENDON ORDAINS:
Section 1. Rate Setting Authority. All rates, fees, and charges for water and sanitary sewer services shall be established by Resolution of the Village Council and maintained in an official “Water and Sewer Fee Schedule.”
Section 2. Mandatory Notice Period. No resolution increasing or significantly altering the structure of water or sewer rates shall take effect until at least thirty (30) days after the date of the resolution’s adoption.
Section 3. Public Availability. The Village shall ensure the proposed or updated Fee Schedule is available for public inspection at the Village Office and/or published on the Village website during the 30-day period preceding the effective date.
Section 4. Metering and Billing. Upon installation of water meters, billing shall transition to a metered rate structure as defined in the Fee Schedule, subject to the notice requirements set forth in Section 2.
Section 5. Repealer and Severability. All prior ordinances in conflict are hereby repealed.
